Timber Shed Maintenance Guide

Timber is a natural material and will provide many years

of service when properly maintained.

After installation

  • Some minor movement or adjustment may occur as the shed settles. This is normal and expected.

  • Timber Treatment

  • Apply a suitable timber preservative or shed paint to all external surfaces as soon as possible after installation. Treatment should be reapplied at least once every 12 months or in accordance with the product manufacturer ’ s guidance.

Ventilation & Moisture

  • Ensure all vents remain clear at all times. Avoid storing damp items inside the shed and ensure adequate airflow to reduce condensation.

Roof Care

  • Keep the roof clear of leaves, moss and debris. Periodically check roof coverings and fixings to ensure they remain secure.

Doors, Hinges & Fixings

  • Lightly oil hinges, locks and handles as required. Doors may require occasional adjustment due to natural timber movement.

Base & Surroundings

  • Keep soil, gravel and vegetation away from the shed walls. Maintain airflow around the shed and ensure it remains level over time.

General Care

  • Trim back nearby trees and plants. Do not lean heavy items against the shed walls.

  • Clean using a soft brush and mild soapy water only.

  • Do not use pressure washers, as they may damage the timber.

Natural Timber Characteristics

  • Knots, small cracks, colour variation and movement are natural characteristics of timber and do not affect the structural integrity of the shed.

Final Note

  • Correct maintenance is essential to the longevity and appearance of your shed and helps ensure your warranty remains valid.
